Content and Structure
Our Discovering Positive Education course is built around six evidence-based domains of Positive Education and is underpinned by research on Character Strengths and Mindfulness. It provides educators with an opportunity to explore foundational and emerging research, progressive educational philosophy, and best-practice application.
The course combines live and asynchronous learning, allowing you to apply wellbeing strategies and reflect on their impact as you progress.

Weekly Focus Topics
Each week, we’ll focus on a different wellbeing domain within our Positive Education model, with both a broad overview and a deep dive into a pivotal subtopic:
Week 1. Mindfulness: Present, focused and aware.
Week 2. Character Strengths: What you focus on grows.
Week 3. Positive Emotions & Gratitude: Hunting the good stuff.
Week 4. Positive Relationships & Belonging: Other people matter.
Week 5. Positive Health & Resilience: The stories we tell ourselves.
Week 6. Positive Engagement & Flow: Not just dead fish that go with the flow.
Week 7. Positive Accomplishment & Growth Mindset: Whether you think you can, or think you can’t, you’re right.
Week 8. Positive Purpose & Caregiving: The pale blue dot.

How You'll Learn
Participate
Join a live weekly online session to connect with fellow educators and our facilitators, deepening your learning through discussion and shared insights.
Experiment
Put your learning into practice through a short, hands-on project related to the week’s focus topic. Then share a reflection online for your cohort to read and respond to.
Impact Project
At the end of the course, you’ll complete an Impact Project, which is an opportunity for you reflect on the impact that this course has had on you and/or your community. This deeper reflection and the experience of designing an intentional activity will support your confidence in applying Positive Education strategies in your school and beyond.
There’s plenty of room for creative interpretation in your Impact Project, but it should be equivalent to around 800 written words or a 5–7 minute video.
Participants who complete the full course and submit an Impact Project will receive a certificate from the Institute of Positive Education, recognising their commitment to Positive Education and the practical impact of their learning.
