What is PEEC?

PEEC stands for Positive Education Enhanced Curriculum.

It is a research-based, developmentally sequenced curriculum for students from Early Learning (age four) through to Year 12 (age 18). Drawing on over a decade of Positive Education experience at Geelong Grammar School (GGS), PEEC was developed in consultation with world-renowned positive psychology researchers and a number of experienced teachers. It offers a structured approach to wellbeing education that supports teachers and adds value to their expertise in delivering Positive Education.

First piloted across all GGS campuses and in schools both nationally and internationally, the curriculum has now been used in hundreds of schools around the world.

The Value of PEEC

With 26% of young people in Australia experiencing mental health issues, there is a clear need for preventative measures that empower and equip students to navigate the increasing complexity of the modern world. Teachers and schools are already doing incredible work to support student wellbeing, however, growing pressures mean they need reliable, research-based resources to strengthen their impact.

PEEC provides this support through an explicit, evidence-based curriculum for dedicated Positive Education lessons. It complements the implicit Positive Education practices that take place every day through pastoral care, coaching, and teacher–student interactions. During PEEC lessons, students are taught key wellbeing concepts to help them face life’s challenges well.

Lessons & Structure

PEEC is a comprehensive and adaptable Positive Education curriculum that helps schools foster student wellbeing through structured yet flexible lessons. With over 560 lessons worth of content, developmentally sequenced from Early Learning to Year 12, teachers are well-equipped to support the wellbeing of the students in their care. The lessons can be delivered as standalone sessions or follow our suggested practical sequence for structured implementation.

Each lesson is grounded in research and designed to create a safe and nurturing environment where students can thrive. Recognising the unique dynamics of each classroom, PEEC encourages teachers to tailor the content to their students’ needs. Therefore, lessons are not scripted and do not include suggested timings, allowing for flexibility and customisation. By incorporating research-based content with practical experience, PEEC empowers educators to create environments where students can flourish both academically and personally.
